Who We Are
A Loving, Caring Congregation
Alpine Baptist Church is known as a place "Where Everybody is Somebody". You can see this when you walk into the sanctuary on a Sunday morning and people from all walks of life are worshiping and sharing with one another. You can see this through our ordination of women deacons. You can see this through the words about Alpine Baptist offered by our longest-tenured pastor, Rev. Larry Morris, when he reflected on his time at here by saying, "I've learned the most important thing in the world is to love and be loved."
A Giving Congregation
Alpine has a legacy of being a generous church. At one point we gave more to missions than any other Baptist Church in Alabama. Today, we continue to be a congregation that places a priority on giving through our support of many agencies in our county and beyond. We support national and global missions through our partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Locally, we are known for our no-strings-attached Benevolent Fund. Through the Benevolent Fund, we are able to meet various emergency needs of our neighbors in Alpine and throughout Talladega County.
Centrist Baptists
In some ways, Alpine Baptist is a different kind of Baptist Church. We are the only Baptist church in Talladega County that supports women in leadership and affiliates with the Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship as well as the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. We see as ourselves as an inclusive church that centers our life together in love, not judgment or exclusion.

Statement of Beliefs
Guided by the Words and Deeds of Jesus Christ
ABOUT GOD
...We believe in one God who has made Himself known as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
ABOUT THE BIBLE
...We believe that the Bible is the word of God, and understood properly provides one with the best guide for living life.
ABOUT THE ORDINANCES
...We believe in the ordinances of Christ, Baptism and the Lord's Supper to be wonderful symbols and that when observed with reverence, bring a closeness to God.
ABOUT HUMILITY AND SERVICE
...We believe that salvation is a gift of God and that only by His grace and love are we accepted into his presence.
ABOUT GOD'S SEEKING FOR US
...We believe that salvation is available to all who hear the beckoning call of God and who respond to Him by repentance and faith.
ABOUT CHRIST AS GOD
...We believe that while almighty God may show Himself in many ways to persons throughout the world, that God has manifested or revealed Himself supremely in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
ABOUT LIFE'S MOST IMPORTANT CHOICE
...We believe in life everlasting for all people and that the greatest consideration for all persons is to follow Jesus Christ.
ABOUT SIN
...We believe that all persons are sinners by nature and choice, but that by the grace and love of God, experienced in Jesus Christ, we can escape the penalty of sin and in eternity, the practice of sin.
Established in 1832, Alpine Baptist is the oldest church in Talladega County which is in the Coosa River Baptist Association. We have continued to worship Jesus Christ and foster fellowship among those whom He has called into His family. From the Alpine Baptist Church, many other churches have come into existence.
Virginia planters, coming to Alabama territory, founded the church and their families and servants worshipped in the communion until the end of the civil war when black members established their own Church.
In the 1800's, Alpine Baptist Church gave more to missions than any Baptist Church in the State of Alabama. Also, in 1872, the building was relocated to its present site. The colonial wood frame building, with its high ceilings, green shutters, and antique clear glass windows, causes one to step back into history.
Although the resident membership remains small, we still support the community and world through missions and our benevolent fund. The congregation emphasizes teaching the Bible as it applies to everyday life. Emphasis is placed upon missions, especially as missions apply to helping the needy in our area. While the congregation is small, committed membership makes up for size.
Alpine's ministry has a positive focus. Emphasis is upon God's gracious love and care. Not only is the grace of God the center of congregational thinking, the development of graciousness in individual human life is focal.
At Alpine Baptist, you'll find a place to connect with real people and real families. Join us for Sunday Service.
